About Emerald EarlyCite

EarlyCite is Emerald's online, pre-publication service that enables customers to access journal articles prior to official publication.

Papers will be made available as much as one year before they appear in the final, proofed and edited publication form.

Through EarlyCite, authors' research will be disseminated, read and cited earlier. Similarly, users have access to the most up-to-date research without having to wait for official publication.

EarlyCite articles are fully peer-reviewed. However, EarlyCite papers do not undergo the full sub-editing and page-proofing stages or in-house stages of quality assurance.

Once the sub-edited and page-proofed final copy of the article is ready for publication, it replaces the EarlyCite version.

Every EarlyCite paper is assigned to an issue, which enables correct referencing.

How many journals have their papers published through EarlyCite?

Currently, more than 190 journals publish articles from forthcoming issues through EarlyCite.

Notice to authors

EarlyCite is processed via the ScholarOne journal submission system. Journals not administered via ScholarOne cannot be EarlyCited until they have migrated to the system.
All author data which appears with EarlyCite files (including titles, author order and author listing) are taken directly from the information provided by authors at the point of submission to ScholarOne. Please ensure all details are complete and correct at the point of submission.
The papers which appear on EarlyCite are the versions uploaded directly by authors to ScholarOne.
