Unique Attributes

Disaster Prevention and Management (DPM) sets out to advance knowledge in the broad field of disaster risk reduction and management. Disasters refer to events associated to all forms of hazards, including natural phenomena, technological accidents, criminality and conflicts, complex emergencies, transportation accidents, poverty and other social and economic threats.

DPM aims at providing a platform for bridging the gap between a large array of academic disciplines and stakeholders, including policy makers, practitioners and representatives of the civil society / local communities. Therefore, it therefore particularly welcomes contributions which emphasise multi-disciplinary and multi-actor perspectives on innovative topics related to disaster risk reduction and management.

DPM only considers high-quality articles which are peer-reviewed by two external experts and the editors before acceptance for publication. To speak to a large range of stakeholders, including non-academic actors, articles must be short and straightforward and avoid technical jargons.

DPM also encourages the contribution of junior scholars, authors from less affluent countries and non-native English speakers, and provide support to assist them throughout the reviewing and publication of their manuscript.
